My sister Colette’s bridal shower was last weekend at our family’s favorite restaurant, Meta (formerly known as Sole) on Long Island. It was such a lovely afternoon intimately celebrating the bride-to-be with twenty of our closest family and friends.
Before the passing of Kate Spade, my mother and I had decided on a color scheme of black, white, gold, hot pink, and florals inspired by the fashion designer’s iconic American style. We incorporated this into the invitation, decorations, flowers, and cake.
The sit-down luncheon included four courses. Between courses, we played a series of games. At everyone’s place setting was a scratch off card and the winner took home a “Calm” roller with Stress Away and Lavender essential oils, as well as the Lavender Lip Balm.
The first course was the Meta Insalata with chopped lettuce, cucumber, tomato, fresh mozzarella, string bean and a house vinegarette. The next game we played was How Well Do You Know the Bride? The winners took home the Glow Facial Serum and Lavender Lip Balm.
The second course was Penne in their special vodka sauce. Seriously, the best I’ve ever had! My sweet father DVRed old episodes of the Newlywed game and compiled a list of twenty of his favorite questions from the show for Jeff to answer about Colette. Guests were given a list of the questions and had to answer Yes / No if he would get them right. The winners with the most Yes took home a Lavender Linen Spray and Grapefruit Lip Balm.
The third course was a choice of Crabcake & Cashew Crusted Salmon, Chicken Limoncello, or Eggplant Parmigiana. I wish I had pictures of the delicious dishes, but everyone got right into eating them! The last game was a memory game. My mother put together an apron with different kitchen items and silly things attached to it. My sister wore the apron, did a loop through the dining room, and guests had to remember and write down what was on the apron. I wish I had a picture of Colette in the apron too, but she was completely embarrassed and we were lucky to even get her to participate! The winners took home the Thieves Household Cleaner and the Cinnamint Lip Balm.
The fourth course was the cake and a cannoli tower. Finally, since we were celebrating a bridal shower, I thought the perfect favor for our guests would be a ring cleaner! The ring cleaner was made up of the Thieves Household Cleaner, Thieves Dish Soap, witch hazel, and water. Already, I’ve received messages from guests that their engagement and wedding rings have never been so *sparkly*!
