Why I’m “Ditching + Switching” to Thieves

Since I’ve moved into my home over 4 years ago, I’ve pretty much always had a cleaning service come in and do the deep cleaning every other week. My husband treated me to this during my days of teaching when he saw that I was spending my entire Saturday cleaning the inside of the house and my entire Sunday lesson planning.

Side note: He is extremely handy and takes care of everything else inside and outside of our home!

Summer of 2015 came around, we learned we were pregnant with our first child, and there was NO questioning whether or not we would keep our cleaning service. Besides the physical labor, we weren’t going to take the risk of me handling and inhaling highly toxic cleaning supplies while I was pregnant with our precious baby. Seriously, think about that!

In the months after our daughter Mairen was born, we still did not feel safe spraying cleaners in the air around her. Lets be completely real here… when Mairen was an infant, if I wasn’t holding her 24/7, I had to strap her in my ergobaby carrier if I wanted to get ANYTHING done around the house! There was NO chance I was going to wear her, bring her into my windowless and unventilated bathrooms, jet out chemically filled bleach products, and have us BOTH inhale those vapors. So, the cleaning service continued.

Fast forward to winter of 2017. Mairen was just shy of a year old and we found out we were pregnant again with our second child. With another baby girl on the way, we kept our cleaning service through our pregnancy. Mae is now 8 months old and we just discontinued our service with them! The reason is THIEVES! For the first time since our children were conceived, we feel peace of mind cleaning our home ourselves with our children around.

Thieves (essential oil) is an important ingredient in Young Living’s home cleaning products, replacing harsh chemicals with pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils and other naturally derived products. Therefore, I am “ditching” ALL the cleaning products underneath my sinks and “switching” to Thieves. To be cost effective, I am transitioning over to the Thieves product once I run out of whatever product I am currently using. We have made the switch already to Thieves Foaming Hand Soap (Refill), Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak, Thieves Household Cleaner, Thieves Laundry Soap, and Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier (3 pack). In my Essential Rewards (ER) order for next month, I am switching to Thieves Automatic Dishwasher Powder, and Thieves Dish Soap. I’m even going to try out some of the dental products: Thieves Aromabright Toothpaste, and Thieves Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash.

If you want to learn more about the potentially toxic ingredients in your cleaning products, I highly encourage you to download the Think Dirty® app. Just search your product name, or scan the product barcode and Think Dirty will give you a dirty, half n’ half, or clean rating with easy-to-understand info on the product and its ingredients.

Here are the results of the products that were on my shelves:
